Attention Junior Wrestlers

Notice to all Junior Freestyle and Greco Roman Wrestlers:

I realize many of you have questions about the procedures for qualifying for Fargo or representing Team Iowa at the Junior Duals. Here is some information that may be helpful:

Placing in the top 3 at any of the USA Wrestling Regional Competitions qualifies you for Junior Nationals (FARGO) at whatever weight you choose to wrestle. 

Placing in the top 3 at Junior Freestyle or Greco State also qualifies you for the Junior National Tournament, however only State Champions may change weight classes (if there is room).

If you qualify through the Freestyle and Greco-Roman state tournament and would like to wrestle both styles in Fargo you must do one of the following:
1. Earned previous All -American Honors in Fargo
2. Qualify through a Regional (if you only qualify in one style you must place in the top 3 at state in the other)
3. Win the State Tournament in at least one style and place in the top 3 in the other.

Note** The criteria above are only for those wanting to double, they are not qualifying criteria, you must place in the top three at State or a Regional to qualify for the National Team.

Be prepared to make a decision if one of the above criteria is not met.

Junior Nationals is not an open tournament, you must be part of Team Iowa, attend training camp, stay with the team, wear the uniform package, etc.

I will register you for the tournament.

I will be in Waterloo for the Northern Plains Regional and will have raffle tickets, registrations and waivers, camp information, and uniform package forms. Please be prepared to pay your deposit ($300) at the conclusion of the tournament if you would like the materials at that time. Checks can be made out to "IWF" or Iowa/USA wrestling.

If you have qualified through another regional please contact me before the conclusion of the state tournaments to get signed up for Fargo.  My contact information is below.

For those who qualify from the state tournaments please have your deposit ready that weekend as your spot on the team will be held for only one week before the next athlete on the list is contacted.  If you do not sign up at the tournaments you will be charged postage fees for the raffle tickets and information to be sent to you.

The National Duals will be in Oklahoma City, June 26th through
June 30^th.. Teams for the duals will be selected based on the following criteria:

1. Fila Junior World Champion
2. Junior National Champion
3. Cadet National Champion
4. Fila Junior World Place winner
5. Junior National Place winner
6. Fila Junior World Team Member
7. Cadet National Place winner
8. Current year regional champion.
* results are style specific, folkstyle results are not included.

If teams cannot be decided by the above criteria, the freestyle and Greco state tournaments and Regional results from this year will be used to fill the team. Results from last year may not be used if a case of head to head competition this spring shows a different result (multiple times) or if an athlete has not been active with the IWF or USA wrestling this year.
